Fuel-Corrected Pace
VerifiedAdjusting a lap time for how much fuel the car was carrying, so laps at different points in a stint can be compared fairly.
A heavier car is slower, so a lap early in a long run (more fuel on board) isn't directly comparable to a lap late in the same run (less fuel, lighter car). Fuel-corrected pace applies a standard per-lap time adjustment for the fuel burned, so every lap in a run can be compared as if it were run at the same fuel load.
Teams do this constantly to read practice sessions honestly: without correcting for fuel, a long run simply looks like it gets faster every lap, which mixes together the car getting lighter and the tyre wearing in ways that actually pull on the lap time in opposite directions at once.
It's also how outside analysts estimate a car's true race pace from public practice times, since fuel loads themselves aren't published; the correction is an estimate, not an exact figure.
